Written by Grace is a creative space for intimate thoughts. Whether it’s poetry, prose, or fiction novels, Written by Grace is a mirror of the lives of young women who deal with unique experiences and problems. This site will encompass queer lives, mental health, and our relationship with the universe.

ABOUT GRACE

Grace Karam, a young creative powerhouse with degrees in writing and visual arts, extends a heartfelt hand through her work. Raised in a Catholic household, her unique experiences as a queer woman have shaped her voice—a voice that resonates with nature, spirituality, and the challenges of mental health. Her goal is to let her readers know they aren’t alone. As a writer she hopes to connect to individuals and create supportive communities for those that feel alone and misunderstood.

PHILOSOPHY

Above all else, Grace values authenticity, curiosity, and justice. Her journey has taught her that honesty about where she is in her life is a valuable way to communicate her needs and boundaries. Her curiosity has brought her many benefits and many troubles. All of these experiences combined have shaped her to become the dynamic and complicated writer she is today. Her need for justice stems from growing up in a conservative household that rarely held enough space for her thoughts and feelings. Her emotions were diminished and misunderstood. Because of that she is motivated to become a safe person for those who do not have supportive spaces to be who they really are. She believes everyone deserves equality and understanding, especially those burdened with prejudice and discrimination. Grace’s goal is to set aside space and empathy for those who have not been heard, those who need community and understanding, and those who have yet to receive the privilege of being whole.
